We provide system cleanings and repairs for every part of an A/C system in Miami. As part of our commitment to keeping South Florida cool and comfortable, Cool Air USA also provides tune-ups to ensure your A/C system continues to work efficiently year round.
What Is An A/C Tune-Up?
An A/C Tune-Up is preventative maintenance performed on your A/C system to prevent any major issues from occurring to your system. In some cases an A/C Tune-Up will find small issues before they become big issues. A Cool Air USA certified technician is dispatched to your home in Miami and perform a full 21-point check-up on the system and pertaining connections to it. A free pound of Freon is included, all moving parts of the system are lubricated, and a thorough inspection is performed to ensure you have nothing to worry about with your A/C. Tune-Ups are recommended to be performed twice a year.
What Is The Importance of Air Duct Cleaning in Miami?
Air duct cleaning is important in order to keep the air you are breathing in your home clean. We recommend getting the air ducts cleaned at least once a year, usually before the summer season begins. People who suffer from allergies or asthma are recommended to have their air ducts cleaned at least twice a year. The process in which this cleaning is done varies from home to home. Primarily, Cool Air USA provides two types. The first type of cleaning utilizes an air duct brush machine that comes equipped with a 30-foot long rotating hose with a brush on the end that is fed through each individual duct in the home. The second type of cleaning utilizes a 3-ton HEPA negative air machine which connects to the main supply vent of the home in Miami.
How Often Should Air Ducts Be Cleaned in Miami?
Cool Air USA recommends getting the air ducts cleaned at least once a year, usually right before the start of summer in Miami. If you suffer from allergies or asthma we would recommend cleaning the air ducts twice a year.
Am I Eligible For Any Energy-Efficient Tax Credits in Miami?
You may be eligible for any energy-efficient tax credit based on the efficiency of a new A/C system installation in Miami. If in any case you owe payment to the IRS when you file your taxes, you will be issued a credit based on the installation of a high-efficiency A/C unit.
I’m Replacing The Outdoor Unit, Do I Need To Replace the Indoor Unit?
The outdoor unit, also known as the condenser unit, and the indoor unit, also known as the air handler, are two separate units. Depending on the AHRI “match-up” replacing one may not warrant replacing the other. In any case, Cool Air USA provides a free estimate and can clarify if one or both units need to be replaced.
What Does SEER Mean & Stand For?
The term SEER stands for Season Energy Efficiency Ratio. SEER is the amount of cooling that an air conditioning system delivers per watt of electricity used to power the system. The higher the SEER rating, the less electricity is needed in order to allow the unit to run.
How Do I Pay For Your Services?
Cool Air USA accepts any method of payment; Cash, Credit Card, Debit Card, Check, ACH, Financing, and Apple Pay.
When Is It A Good Time To Replace My Air Conditioning System in Miami?
There is no estimated time of when to replace an A/C system in Miami. Each system has a different lifespan depending on many factors such as climate and maintenance routine throughout the years. An A/C system is typically replaced once the cost of maintenance and repair outweighs the cost of a new system. Currently it is highly recommended to replace any R-22 based A/C systems as it is now phased out by two generations of refrigerant type. At the moment R410-A based A/C systems are no longer in production and are in the process of being phased out for the new A2L based A/C systems.
What Is Involved When Installing An A/C System in Miami?
There are various factors that are considered when installing a new A/C unit in Miami. Firstly, it is important to locate where the unit is situated. It can either be on the roof, outside the house, hanging off the wall, inside the garage, inside a closet, or even in an attic. If the unit is located on the roof then a crane will be considered in order to proceed with the installation. All Cool Air USA installations are done with a city permit.
How Often Should Maintenance Be Done To The A/C System in Miami?
An A/C in Miami unit should have preventive maintenance performed twice a year by a certified technician. Ideally this should be done once in the spring before summer, and once in the fall after the summer.
How Often Should I Change My A/C Filter in Miami?
The A/C filter should be changed every 30 to 90 days in Miami. This varies depending on the filter’s MERV rating and how much traffic a home sees. The best way to know when to replace a filter is to do a routine check of the filter every 30 days and replacing it once it becomes dirty and following a set schedule.
Can I Have A Bigger Sized A/C System Installed?
Changing the tonnage of your system may have unwanted effects on the cooling of your home. A/C systems are selected for a home based on a combination of square footage and heatload. An oversized (bigger sized) unit will cool a home much quicker but it will not condition the air leading to high humidity which causes the home to feel cool yet uncomfortable. An undersized (smaller sized) unit will not cool a home efficiently and will run for extended periods of time without reaching the set temperature.
What Is The Average Lifespan Of An A/C System in Miami?
The average lifespan of an A/C unit varies from house to house. It depends on the brand, SEER rating, and how often it’s being maintained. On average an A/C system will last 8-10 years in Miami. With proper maintenance and upkeep a unit can survive up to 15 years or more.
Why Is My Inside A/C Unit A Bigger Tonnage Than My Outside A/C Unit?
It’s common for an air handler to be a half-ton bigger than the condenser. This is done to achieve higher SEER rating (efficiency) and efficient cooling for the home in Miami. These matchups are certified through AHRI and designed to operate together in this manner.
Why Is My Neighbor’s A/C A Bigger Tonnage Than My A/C When We Have The Same Square Footage?
Even if the square footage is the same the heat load of both homes can vary vastly in Miami. Based on the home’s insulation, quality of windows, sun exposure, and constant heat load, the tonnage for the system will vary.
How fast can Cool Air USA get to my home in Miami?
Most Miami service calls are scheduled the same day. For 24/7 emergency AC repair, our technicians are dispatched 24/7 and prioritize emergency calls from our office, even on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Which Miami Zip Codes Do You Service?
Cool Air USA services every zip code in Miami.
Can you handle commercial properties in Miami?
Yes. We service light commercial (restaurants, retail, professional offices) throughout Miami.
Why Do I Need A Permit With My New A/C System in Miami?
A permit is a homeowner’s way of protecting themselves and their home’s value when a new A/C system is installed. Every HVAC contractor is legally required to pull a permit. This ensures that the A/C system is installed up to city code requirements and was installed correctly and safely. Without a permit the City may put a stop to the sale of a home and require a permit to be pulled prior to the sale of your Miami property.
Why Is A Heat Load Calculation Needed For My Home in Miami?
A heat load calculation is needed when the existing A/C system is suspected to be improperly sized for the home. A heatload will determine the appropriate tonnage for the A/C. If the a/c system is improperly sized and a new one is to be installed, the heatload calculation doubles as a stepping stone to pulling a permit with the city.
Do I need To Register My New A/C System in Miami?
No, as of July 1, 2024, Florida legislation requires every new system to receive the maximum warranty possible with the manufacturer.
How Does The Warranty Work With My New A/C System in Miami?
Specific warranty length and description can be found on your contract with us. Typically the manufacturer’s warranty is for 10 years and Cool Air USA provides a full 1 year labor warranty with the system. This means during the first year from the date of installation the A/C system is completely covered for any repairs. Once the labor warranty expires, the manufacturer parts warranty will cover the cost of parts and only labor will be charged.
How Do I Know How Much Freon My A/C Needs?
This varies from system to system. Most A/C systems come precharged from the factory but additional Freon is necessary depending on the length of the copper lines. In most cases an A/C system will not be completely devoid of Freon. This means the only way to know how much Freon is needed is by having a certified technician, which Cool Air USA can provide, to determine how much Freon your system is missing as well as verifying if there is a Freon leak. If it’s out of curiosity, the data sticker on the condenser’s service panel will state the Freon type and the amount of Freon is precharged into the system measured in ounces. Typically every 4 feet of copper will add a pound of Freon needed to be added to the system at the time of installation in Miami. Summing up both numbers will provide you with an estimate as to how much Freon the system holds.
Why Does My A/C Unit Freeze Up?
There are many reasons as to why your A/C may be freezing up in Miami. A dirty, clogged filter will cause a system to freeze. It’s also common for an A/C to freeze when there is a Freon leak resulting in the system being low on Freon. In other cases a failing motor will cause your A/C to also freeze. To know exactly what is causing this issue we may send a technician to your home to perform a proper diagnosis.
How Do I Increase The Efficiency Of My A/C System in Miami?
There are many ways you can increase the performance of your A/C system. Replace the air filter on a regular basis before it becomes too dirty. Keep the condenser (outside unit) clear of any debris and rinse off gently with a garden hose if it’s in the proximity of a dryer vent or grass during lawn maintenance after every service. Seal any air leaks in the home from doors and windows. Ensure your home and attic are properly insulated.
Why Does My A/C Leak Water?
Many factors may contribute to your A/C leaking water. A dirty filter may cause the evaporator coil to freeze and as the coil thaws from the ice, water will leak. A clogged drainline will not allow water condensation from the evaporator coil to drain resulting in a water leak. An improperly installed motor may also cause water to be sucked up into the system and dropped down to the floor. A clogged drainpan may also prevent condensation from flowing through the drainline. In any of these cases it’s recommended to have a certified technician diagnose the cause and to rectify the problem, all of which Cool Air USA can provide you with today in Miami.
Why Is My A/C Making Noise?
There are many reasons as to why your A/C may be making a noise that is not normal. A failing electrical component such as a bad capacitor, contactor, relay, or transformer may cause your unit to make unwanted clicking and humming noises. An imbalanced motor or blower wheel may cause the unit to make unwanted grinding or banging noises. In some cases electrical chattering can be a sign of a failing contactor or relay. In the event of a whistling noise, this may be caused by an air filter not properly fitted into place or the panel on the unit not being closed/sealed properly. All of which requires a certified technician to diagnose and repair the cause of the noise. Cool Air USA can schedule a same-day appointment in Miami.
What Is A Heat Pump?
A heat pump is an A/C system that does not require an electrical heating element in order to provide heating to a home. It instead operates by reversing the cooling cycle of an air conditioning system through the use of a reversing valve. This allows warm air to heat the home. Heat pumps tend to be more energy efficient than your average A/C system which requires an electrical heating element.
Why Do I Need A Heater For My A/C System When I Live In Miami?
All A/C systems require a heating element to be installed in order to be code compliant with the city. If an A/C system is used to cool a living space, the system is legally required to also provide heating in the home.
Why Is My A/C Producing A Smell?
Any smell coming from your air conditioning system is enough to cause alarm. Usually any bad smell from the unit is an indicator that it’s time to get the system maintained. There are all sorts of causes for your system to make any sort of weird or off-putting smell. Usually this occurs after a period of time of not using the air conditioning system. Other times it can occur slowly over time with debris and particles piling on the evaporator coil. This is almost always caused by a lack of maintenance. The first thing that most people notice when one of our professionals opens the unit up is a lot of dust and debris built up in the cabinet and on the coils. Cool Air USA stocks all service vehicles with the materials and supplies needed to maintain your system and get it cleaned and smelling like new.
Is It Normal For My A/C To Make A Buzzing Noise?
A buzzing or a humming noise is the main complaint for any unit that begins “sounding weird.” When this happens you can contact Cool Air USA to have factory trained and EPA certified technicians to diagnose the problem in Miami. The buzzing or humming noise is most commonly caused by a failed electrical component within the system. Any electrical component in your system most commonly fails after an electrical surge. Cool Air USA offers surge protectors for all systems to help protect against electrical surges. Cool Air USA’s certified experts are dedicated to customer service and to their trade. We will find the cause and offer a resolution to fix the problem for good.
Why Is My A/C Making The Breaker Trip?
If you find that the breaker for the system is constantly tripping, do not reset it! A breaker that’s constantly tripping is a clear indication that the system is not operating normally on an electrical level. Every system comes with a factory mandated amperage rating to protect your system and home. A constantly tripping breaker most likely means that the breaker is doing what it’s designed to do, and the system needs to be diagnosed as soon as possible. Cool Air USA’s factory trained and EPA certified technicians can provide you with a fast and accurate diagnosis of the problem in Miami. The two main culprits for overamping the circuit is the compressor of the system and the heater kit (if one exists in the unit). When a compressor begins to fail electrically it will cause the breaker to trip constantly. In some cases the same occurs when a heater kit is beginning to fail.
